Wildlife in The Attic
The most common scenario that we deal with: animals have invaded the attic of your house. You may hear them scratching or scampering above the ceiling, or even in the walls. Several wildlife species commonly use attics as a denning and nesting space. This includes raccoons, squirrels, rats, mice, and even opossums. In addition, large groups of bats will often roost in an attic space, as will certain birds such as pigeons. Removal of animals in attics is specialty work, because of the difficulty of working on roofs and in attics, and also because of the likely presence of a nest of baby animals inside the attic. The baby animals must be removed, all the adults properly removed, and the entry holes sealed shut.
Nuisance Wildlife Trapping
If you have unwanted wildlife outside the home, in some cases, the only solution is to trap and remove the nuisance wildlife, and this is of course one of our areas of specialty. Whether you have a raccoon tipping your garbage cans, skunks living under your back porch, or groundhogs digging a large hole next to your house, we can safely and effectively catch and remove the animals. Trapping is an art, and most amateur attempts go awry for a variety of reasons. An intimate knowledge of animal behavior and trap types is necessary to ensure that the animal is trapped and removed without incident. In addition, most US states have very specific laws about wildlife trapping.
Full Home Inspections and Professional Exclusions
The animals in your house or attic are getting inside somehow. Every area of the house must be checked thoroughly, from ground level gaps, vents, soffit vents, eave gaps, plumbing stacks, chimneys and more. We know all of the areas that animals can and do use, and the telltale signs. Raccoons tend to rip open one large entry point. Squirrels tend to chew. Rats and mice can enter very small entry points, but the areas vary by species of rodent. We seal up your house and make it completely 100% wildlife-proof. We perform our repairs with professional grade methods and steel, so that new animals can’t chew their way in. This not only prevents future wildlife from entering, but certain jobs aren’t even possible without repairs.
Attic Cleanup and Decontamination
Most wildlife leave an attic full of droppings, urine, leftover food, and even parasites. They also leave behind a strong pheromone scent in their urine and fur oils. This scent attracts new wildlife to your home and attic. After the animals have been removed, we clean up the mess and odor that they’ve left behind. This can vary from simpler removal of droppings and areas of insulation by hand, accompanied by fogging, to full-on insulation removal and replacement, depending on situation. We kill the parasites and pathogens, eliminating the health risk. We also deodorize the attic. We use a special enzyme-based cleaner that sanitizes organic matter, such as feces, urine, and grease.
Dead Animal Removal
Do you have a terrible odor inside your house? One likely cause is a rotting animal carcass. The animals that live in or under your house or building often die there, as well. The odor is often unbearable, and in the case of a larger animal, such as a raccoon in the wall or an opossum under the house, the odor can last for months. We remove dead animal bodies from buildings every day. There’s no magic tool – simply a good nose and experience of common architectures and animal behaviors will lead us to the dead body, where we remove it and clean and deodorize the area.
